Selsey Town Council Services

Selsey Town Council is the first and closest tier of local government to the town's residents.  The Council provides a voice for the Selsey Community through democratic representation whilst supporting Selsey Town to be an inclusive community where all our residents and visitors have equality of opportunity.  Its fourteen Members are elected by the public and serve a four year term. The Councillors are unpaid and freely give their time and expertise to ensure that the local area is represented and its views made known to principal authorities.  

 

 


 

The Councillors and staff work together to improve Selsey's social, environmental, cultural and economic well-being and sustainability.  With this aim, Selsey Town Council provides facilities and services and delivers projects and initiatives, examples are:  

In partnership with other local authorities and groups Selsey Town Council is involved in:

  • Assisiting in funding the Community Warden with Chichester District Council 
  • Assisting in the funding of the Town's CCTV 
  • Assisting with the funding of the fortnightly mobile tip with West Sussex County Council and other Manhood Parish Councils
  • Making a financial contribution towards some of the Town's street lighting provision
  • Leasing premises to the Sussex Police for the Selsey Police Base at the Town Hall Complex
  • The Selsey Photo Archive website in partnership with the Manhood Wildlife and Heritage Group
  • Sea's The Day in partnership with the Selsey Fisheries, Chichester District Council and Manhood Penninsula Partnership 
  • Neighbourhood Panel - crime reduction forum

Selsey Town Council are a consultee on changes and developments within Selsey for example:

  • All planning applications
  • Highway schemes
  • Chichester District Council's Infrastructure Business Plan 

and has representatives on a number of organisations and groups:

  • Chichester District Association of Local Councils (CDALC)
  • South Chichester County Local Committee
  • Manor Green Park Volunteers 
  • Emergency Planning Committee
  • Selsey Vision Steering Group

All the Town Council meetings and those of its Committees are open to the public. Agendas for the meetings are displayed on the Town Council notice boards around the town and on our Minutes and AgendasIf you want to come along to a meeting and speak on a specific matter please contact the Clerk who can advise you and arrange for the meeting Chairman to call upon you to speak.
